Mission Statement
The Most Blessed Sacrament Faith Formation Program is an essential part of the mission of the parish. The parish supports parents and guardians who are the primary teachers of the faith. The goal of the program is to form the students to be disciples of Jesus Christ, capable of living life with Catholic-Christian values. The program is rooted in the Sunday celebration of the Eucharist where the entire parish draws strength from both word and Sacrament.

MBS Faith Formation Program 2026-2027
Sunday, September 20th Catechetical Sunday/Welcome Back Mass at 11 a.m.
A mandatory Confirmation meeting for students and one parent or guardian will immediately follow this Mass in the Parish Hall. This meeting is required for all students preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on Thursday, April 29, 2027, at 7:00 p.m.

CLASSES BEGIN MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2026
Session 1:Grades 1 through 5, Monday, 4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.
Session 2:Grades 6 through High School, Monday, 5:45 p.m.–6:45 p.m.
FAITH FORMATION IN-PERSON CLASSES
Faith Formation for all grades includes both in-person and at-home components. In-person classes meet on select Mondays, 2–3 times per month. Please refer to the Faith Formation Schedule for specific dates.
- On weeks when classes do not meet in person, at-home lessons are expected for Grades 2–6. Periodic assignments will be provided for Grades 7–High School. 1st Grade will focus on learning prayers at home each day.
- Families are encouraged to complete assigned lessons together. This model supports family catechesis and reinforces that faith begins at home. Setting aside time each week to learn and grow in faith together can strengthen your family’s relationship with Christ.
- Specific grade-level lessons and assignments will be emailed separately.
FAITH FORMATION HOME BASED
We understand that some schedules make in-person Faith Formation difficult. Families choosing home-based learning will receive guidance and materials to complete lessons at home. Active parent involvement is essential. When registering, please select Home School.
The Home School curriculum follows the same grade-specific curriculum used in in-person classes.
Home lessons require a parent to serve as catechist and guide; they are not self-directed. Weekly Mass and parish involvement—such as service, sponsored liturgies, and special events—are also important parts of each child’s faith formation.
Home-based students are valued members of parish life and should feel connected to their church community. Full participation in Mass supports both faith learning and spiritual growth.
Catechesis means “echo.” Home lessons should echo God’s love while helping children build faith, morals, values, traditions, and a lasting connection to the Church. Parents model faith by praying with their children, encouraging prayer, and showing by example that God and the Church are always there for them.
FAITH FORMATION FAMILY MASS
Faith Formation Family Mass is celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on the first Sunday of each month. All are welcome! We ask our Faith Formation students and their families to make a special effort to attend as we come together to worship and grow as part of our parish community.
Attending weekly Mass is the source and summit of our Catholic faith. Worshiping together strengthens and professes our faith as Catholic Christians. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is where Catholics most abundantly encounter the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. During the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, by the words of Christ and through the power of the Holy Spirit, the gifts of bread and wine are changed into the Body and Blood of Jesus.
Immediately following each monthly Mass, there will be light refreshments in the parish hall. Please support us and join us in the hall to build our parish community.
We invite and encourage families to consider sponsoring a Family Mass by donating light refreshments, setting up, and cleaning up. Students are encouraged to do a reading and/or bring up the offertory gifts, greet parishioners and hand out the weekly bulletin.

MBS Faith Formation Curriculum
We must first come to Jesus before we can fully understand who He is.
1st Grade – Christ Our Life, Loyola Press
Children are provided a simple overview of our faith, through learning of the goodness of God the Father and the love of his Son, Jesus, children respond to God in friendship and prayer
2nd Grade – Blessed, Dynamic Catholic
Dynamic Catholic Blessed First Reconciliation and First Communion. Students will prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation during the first half of the year and First Communion during the second half. The programs combine classroom instruction with animated videos. The video episodes provide teachable moments and use Holy Scripture to illustrate the main point of each session, helping Scripture come to life. Classroom instruction will be held on Mondays 2 – 3 times a month, and video episodes may be watched at home during the alternate weeks. Please refer to the syllabus.
3rd Grade – Good News, Pflaum Gospel Weeklies
Children are guided to become more involved in Sunday worship, as they see how the Sunday Gospel ties to their own lives with age-appropriate focus on Church doctrine, Scripture, family involvement, activities and more!
4th – 6th Grade – Venture, Pflaum Gospel Weeklies
This program leads children to make moral choices, exploring, and expanding their faith. Dramatizations, current events, and original stories the Gospel to young people’s own lives.
7th Grade – Gifted with the Spirit, Pflaum Publishing
Each lesson begins with a call to prayer and provides a clear and in-depth coverage of Catholic tradition. Each lesson also includes Scripture search to strengthen biblical connections and activities to keep minds engaged. There is also a focus on the works of mercy and acts of justice that young people can perform to serve others outside their sessions.
Confirmation Prep: 8th Grade through High School
Confirmation is typically received in 8th grade; however, high school students who have not yet been confirmed and wish to receive the sacrament are welcome to enroll.
Our youth learn to follow Christ through lessons and parish activities that help them recognize God’s presence and action in their lives. They explore the gifts of the Holy Spirit—special strengths that help them grow as disciples of Jesus and members of the Church. Through prayer, Scripture, and reflection, they deepen their relationship with God and learn what it means to live as Christ’s people in the world as they prepare for full initiation into the Catholic faith through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Candidates are required to complete parish service projects, such as the MBS Community Dinner, the Women’s Guild Annual Holly Festival, and A Bed for Every Child. They must also submit the following forms and assignments, which are provided at the Confirmation meeting and included in the Confirmation Handbook: Choosing My Confirmation Name, Choosing My Sponsor, Application for the Reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation, Confirmation Essay, and Confirmation Sponsor Activity. Students are expected to attend Mass regularly and participate in all faith formation-sponsored events.
